THE LIFECYCLE OF CONFLICT AND HR PROFESSIONALS
A lifecycle describes a series of changes or developmental stages that occur for a given situation over time. To best manage conflict in the workplace as an HR professional, it helps to understand the lifecycle of conflict. This lifecycle of conflict might also be referred to as the conflict phases or the conflict cycle. Note that a “conflict is a dynamic situation and the intensity of conflict changes over time. Arguably, the concept of the conflict cycle helps to understand this dynamic” (Wohlfeld, 2010, p. 14). Keep this in mind as you address each of the required sections of your paper.
To complete this Assignment, review the Learning Resources for this week and respond to the following key points in a 2- to 3-page academic paper.
Distinguish between conflict management and conflict resolution, in particular as each applies to workplace situations.
Analyze two versions of lifecycles, then identify which you believe is more useful and explain why.
Explain in which stages within the lifecycles of conflict you chose that interventions will be most effective. Provide your rationale, including specific details/examples that directly apply to workplace situations.
Explain why it is critical for HR professionals to know and understand the stages within the lifecycle of conflict. Clarify your response with examples from workplace situations.
