HR’S ROLE IN COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AND ARBITRATION
As your resources have explained, arbitration is another method, or private process, that parties can use to settle a dispute. In addition to the disputing parties, the arbitration process involves a neutral third party, or arbitrator, who has the authority to make a decision regarding the dispute after receiving the evidence and hearing each party’s arguments. Collective bargaining is a process in which employees work with their union for support in negotiating their employment contracts with their employer.
DAY 3
Post by Day 3 a cohesive and scholarly response based on your readings and research this week that addresses the following:
Discuss key differences between arbitration and mediation.
Explain collective bargaining, including the role of arbitration in collective bargaining.
Using examples from workplace situations, explain HR’s role in arbitration and collective bargaining.
Explain two effective bargaining strategies that can be used in labor relations and share your rationale.
